Trip to Havelock Island

This is the travel experience of my roommate Shahana who is from the Andaman Islands. The story of four friends to Havelock Islands. It was a vacation for all. After a long time, she went back to her hometown. There she met her old friends. She has not been there before; this was her first experience of Havelock Island. They all got vacation at the same time so they have planned for a 2-day adventure trip. They were so excited to see beaches, especially to trek among the dense forest. They had a good experience.
Also, check out another experience

Getting to Havelock Islands

As they were locals, they took a ferry from Port Blair to Havelock islands which cost them around Rs.50 It took approximately 3 hours to reach there from Port Blair Jetty.

Day 1: Visit Kalapathar beach

On the 1st day, they rented a scooter to travel around the island which costs Rs.500 for a day and would advise everybody who would visit Havelock Island to do the same. As half the day was already gone in traveling from Port Blair to Havelock, they decided to visit the nearby beach, that was, Kalapathar beach. Kalapathar literally translates to ‘black rocks’ and you’ll actually see several black rocks, small and big, on the beach. The beach is clean and water crystal clear blue. It’s a mesmerizing view. Even the journey to reach the beach is beautiful with roads passing through the lush green forest.

Day 2: Visit Elephant Beach and Radhanagar Beach

Trek to Elephant Beach:

Next day early morning, the four of them left for Elephant beach and Radhanagar beach, unaware of the fact that to reach Elephant beach you need to trek 2km into the deep jungle. As there is no proper internet reception so forget about navigation using maps. They asked the locals around, the way to Elephant beach, and started their journey. After reaching they came to know that they have to trek to reach the beach. As adventure lovers, this news was a cherry on top of the cake for them. But, it started raining! And as it was a jungle the route became muddy and slippery and a 100 times harder to trek. They slipped and fell and were covered in mud but had a lot of fun trekking! Supporting each other, helping each other and laughing every time someone fell was a memorable experience for them.

After about 1 hour of tedious trekking, they reached the beach. The view was so beautiful that it took off all their tiredness and made the trek worthwhile White sand, huge beach with fallen trees, their roots resemble the Iron Throne, from Game of Thrones and lot tourists, click photos in front of it because of the resemblance. Elephant beach is famous for its water sports activity, but as they had to visit another beach too and had to trek back also, so they just explored the beach and went back.

Radhanagar Beach

They got on their scooters and started their journey to the next spot, Radhanagar beach.
Radhanagar beach is the most famous beach and the main attraction of Havelock Island. It has been crowned “Asia’s Best Beach” and “7th best beach in the world” by Time Magazine It is a wide stretch of white sand and clear blue water surrounded by lush green forest and palm trees. This beach stands out not just because of its scenic beauty but because of its untouched vibe and clean, pure beach. After a tiring journey, all they wanted to do was dive into the sea and have some fun. The waves were pretty gigantic and the water was at high tide so it was a lot of fun to play in the water.
Do visit

Sea-food:

After a fun but exhausting day, all they wanted was a relaxing ambiance and good food. Being islanders they love their seafood. For this, they headed to Anju Coco resto, which is one of the most famous restaurants on the island with affordable prices. They had a large variety of fish, lobsters, and squid dishes on the menu. From soups, starters, drinks, main course to desserts. Everything seemed enticing.
After a good hearty meal, they headed back to their hotel rooms and as they were exhausted and also had an early morning ferry ride back to Port Blair.

In The End...

Even though they were locals and have been born and bought up in the Andaman Islands, they still had a great and unique experience in Havelock Island. Shahana says, “The beauty and vastness of the sea never fail to mesmerize me. There is serenity in the beaches and in the sound of waves that I never get tired of and they always leave me spellbound.”

The experience of Havelock is one of a kind and a must-visit for lovers of the sea and beaches and also for adventure seekers. It is a perfect place to get away and have a proper detox from the fast-moving world and from the world of social media.
